Contrary to popular belief, there is such a thing as a time machine – of sorts. The machine in question contains more than 1,200 parts, of which 84 are ball bearings, 59 are cams, and nine are belts. It took nearly a decade to design the machine and thousands of hours to build it.
In La Chaux-de-Fonds, the Machine à Ecrire le Temps brings to mind a welter of superlatives. A masterpiece engineering for recording time that surrounds an amazing structure made of aluminium and liquid glass crystal. The pen of this highly sophisticated mechanism is driven by a simple movement that records the current time. An exceptional item, created in a limited edition of only 28, that mechanically translates analogue time (i.e. the time shown by a clock) into digital time. Unfortunately, the price of this amazing construction is unknown.
