We give about as much thought to the way we look when we climb on board an aircraft as we do to entering a taxi. We take a transfer from FRA to LAX for granted. What is there that can give us an element of individuality? Yes, our suitcase.

 

At least, that is what the designers obviously had in mind when they decided to reinterpret the style of the golden years of tourism. Back then, between 1850 and 1940, you didn't just change your location, you also changed your temperament. Travelling was a privilege which precluded bad moods as much as it did ugly luggage. It is just as well that items such as the mobile Gucci cabinet or the Prada model are now seeking to revive this period.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Not like that!

A man carrying a suitcase - how ridiculous is that? Far better to travel with hand luggage only. But be careful - those small trolley suitcases only look good when they are being pulled along by air hostesses. The rule is: a real man doesn't tow luggage, he lugs it. This rule may only be broken when the case weighs more than 20 kilograms, no matter how hard you may find the idea.
