600 guests came to the glamorous boutique opening event. These included many stars and celebrities from the fashion sector and the arts milieu such as Sir Elton John, Eva Herzigova, Elizabeth Hurley, Adrien Brody, Rachel Weisz, Elsa Pataky, Maggie Gyllenhaal and of course Caroline Gruosi-Scheufele and Karl-Friedrich Scheufele with his wife Christine.

The 100th and currently largest Chopard boutique in the world was designed from the ground up by Caroline Gruosi-Scheufele in collaboration with the famous French architect Thierry Despont. It presents a new, modern style on two floors. Caroline says: "The location is in one of the chicest shopping streets in New York and it's simply breathtaking. With this new boutique we want to encourage our customers to get to know the world of Chopard in all its different facets."
For this occasion 63rd Street, which runs perpendicular to Madison Avenue and on which the boutique is in fact located, was closed. So instead of the traditional red carpet, it was possible to lay a "pink carpet" all around the boutique as an allusion to the pink velvet upholstery of the boutique's seats. From the carpet, which was decorated in the boutique's colours, the guests could marvel at the shop windows in which films about Chopard were being shown before they were received inside the boutique with cocktails appropriate to the event, the "Chopardissimo" and "709 Madison." MisShapes, a famous New York DJ, provided the musical background to the evening and magnificent pink peonies from Chile elegantly complemented the décor.
The building in which the boutique is located was lit in pink for this special occasion and the Chopard logo was projected on to the building's façade. The climax of the evening: instead of the usual traditional cutting of the ribbon there was a "cake cutting"! Caroline Gruosi-Scheufele and her guests were in fact treated to a cake made of chocolate and marzipan that was a realistic model of the boutique's façade. The "icing" on the cake was the imitation of a necklace from the Haute Joaillerie 709 Madison collection and a Happy Apple watch in a limited edition.

Some of the friends of the firm made a special journey for the boutique opening, namely Sir Elton John, who is currently on tour in the USA, Eva Herzigova, who was wearing the showpiece of the 709 collection, a necklace made of diamonds and emeralds, and Elizabeth Hurley. The two ladies came unaccompanied and spent the evening together chatting happily. Adrien Brody and Elsa Pataky appeared to be visibly relaxed, smiling happily and very much in love.
Also among the guests were the famous photographer Gilles Bensimon, Agyness Dean, the English model currently very much in demand, Ivana Trump, Daphne Guinness, Meredith Ostrum (the girlfriend of Nick Rhodes, the singer from Duran Duran) and Graydon Carter, the publisher of Vanity Fair USA. The latter together with Sir Elton John insisted on organising a dinner in honour of Caroline Gruosi-Scheufele with the New York crème de la crème: Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, the daughter of Carine Roitfeld, Margaretha Missoni and Harvey Weinstein. After the celebration dinner the guests found their way to "Butter," New York's "in" disco, where celebrations continued until late into the night.
