The World's Ten Priciest Cars

Forbes recently came out with a new list of the world's ten priciest cars. The criterion for inclusion on the list – apart from a sky-high price – is that driving the car on a normal road has to be legal.

The world's tenth most expensive car is the US-made Shelby Super Car SSC Ultimate Aero, whose 1287 HP make it one of the fastest cars on the road. Price: 740,000 dollars. No less exotic is the Swiss-made open-top Leblanc Mirabeau, which meets FIA/Le Mans standards and sells for 765,000 dollars. Breaking the magic million dollar barrier is the Swedish super sports car, the Koenigsegg CCX, which is yours for a cool 1.1 million bucks.

More exclusive and sportier still is the Lamborghini Reventon, which will set you back a mere 1.42 million dollars, but will also make you one of a very small number of proud owners, as only 20 of the cars were made. The open roadster model goes for 1.56 million dollars.

But hold on to your door handles, because we're not to the top of the pile yet. The super-exclusive Pagani Zonda Cinque roadster, of which only five were produced, will reduce your bank balance by 1.8 million dollars.

And now we've arrived at the two most expensive cars on the planet. You can drive a Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport out of the showroom for 2 million dollars (but get yours while they last: only 150 were made).

And if you'd like to be the proud owner of the most expensive car on earth, then you simply cannot live without the Koenigsegg Trevita from Sweden – yours, with its 4.7-litre V8 motor, 1018 HP, 1060 torque, 0-100 kilometres per hour acceleration in 3.1 seconds, and top speed of 400 kilometres per hour – for a piddling 2.21 million dollars.
