Sydney

sydney

Sydney is a modern, cosmopolitan and sultry city. Residents claim that it is only without sun for 23 days a year. Built around one of the most beautiful, natural harbours in the world and surrounded by parklands, reserves and gardens it is one of the most spectacular settings for a city in the world. The atmosphere in Sydney is vibrant, liberal and dynamic.

Instructions

The beaches are packed and the harbor area is full of beautiful people partying hard. The nightlife is as mixed as the city's inhabitants with conservative and elegant restaurants sharing the same night air as wild, outrageous clubs.

To many, Sydney is simply the world's best city - who could argue with a city so blessed by its idyllic climate, friendly atmosphere and range of things to see and do? The famed landmarks of its spectacular harbourside, stunning white beaches and world-class seafood restaurants, buzzing nightlife and arts scene, and abundant natural wonders on its doorstep are just a few of the highlights of the state capital of New South Wales.

Arts and Events

Sydney houses the headquarters of Australia's leading arts and cultural organizations. Its significant role is epitomised by the timeless, sail like architecture of Sydney Opera House, one of the world's most important modern buildings. It is a base for classic and contemporary opera, theatre, ballet and music recitals. Sydney hosts a literature festival in May, followed by a glittering film festival in June. There are numerous art galleries, including the Art Gallery of New South Wales. This historic, neo-Greek building showcases one of the finest collections of Australian art, including the outstanding Yiribana Gallery, the world's largest permanent exhibition of Aboriginal art.
